2019 SEGL Sportsmanship Award: Belle Buehrle

Belle is a member of the Skating Club of Huntsville in Huntsville, AL. Her skating achievements include competing at the 2020 Midwestern Sectionals in Intermediate Ladies and National Showcase which she has placed in the Parade of Champions the past two years.  Belle is described by her coach, Ginger Gober, as “being a super cheerleader for her peers.  Belle offers words of praise to others for a good attempt or beautifully landed jump and is just as quick to offer her should to a disappointed or discouraged skater.”  In her essay submitted with her applications, Belle talks about what skating means to her.  She states “Without skating, I wouldn’t be who I am today.  This sport has taught me more than just to never give up; though skating, I have learned how to deal with injury, jealousy, anxiety, stress, and time management.  I have learned to see the “big picture” lying beneath all of the bad things: I love what I do, and what I do makes me happy.” Congratulations Belle!
