Financial Aid Scholarship
Deadline – Dec. 31, 2024
SEGL awards $700 for the Financial Aid Scholarship. This scholarship provides financial assistance to a developmental skater who exhibits significant talent and a strong desire, but lacks the necessary funds to advance to the next level of training.
Sportsmanship Award
Deadline – Dec. 31, 2024
SEGL awards $400 for the Sportsmanship Award. To encourage the development of good sportsmanship, strong character, and leadership, as a role model to fellow skaters. SEGL awards a monetary scholarship to the council member best exhibiting the following qualities: leadership, industriousness, concern for others, spirit, sportsmanship, academic performance, perseverance, and coachability.
Advancement Awards
Deadline – Dec. 31, 2024
The below advancement awards are exclusively offered to skaters from SEGL member clubs in good standing at the start of the season (January-December). It’s important to be aware that the annual availability of these awards depends on SEGL figure skating council finances. Please note that both fill-ins and byes are not eligible for these awards. To be eligible for awards, skaters and teams must fill out the “Skater Advancement Awards Form” below by December 31st.
Singles Awards:
The SEGL Council awards $50 to each skater who qualifies for the Sectional Singles Final through the National Qualifying Series if they are from SEGL member clubs.
Additionally, the SEGL Council awards $100 to each skater from SEGL member clubs who advances from the Sectional Challenge to the U.S. Championships or are named to the National High-Performance Development Team.
Pair Team & Ice Dance Team Awards:
The SEGL Council awards $50 to each skater who qualifies for the U.S. Pairs Final or U.S. Ice Dance Final through the National Qualifying Series if they are from SEGL member clubs.
Additionally, SEGL Council awards $100 to each skater from SEGL member clubs who advances from the Sectional Challenge to the U.S. Championships or are named to the National High-Performance Development Team.
Synchronized Team Awards:
The SEGL Council awards $75 per team to teams from SEGL member clubs who participate in a qualifying event at the U.S. Synchronized Sectional Championships and advance to the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships.
The SEGL Council awards $75 per team to teams from SEGL member clubs who place 4th or higher at the U.S. Synchronized Championships.
Theatre on Ice Team Awards:
The SEGL Council awards $150 per team to teams from SEGL member clubs who place 4th or higher at the National Theatre on Ice Competition. If your club has two teams that achieve a 4th place or higher ranking at Theatre on Ice Nationals, both teams are eligible to receive this award of $150 per team.
National Showcase Awards:
The SEGL Council awards $100 to each skater who competes in the Parade of Champions or Junior Parade of Champions at National Showcase. A skater will only receive one award for qualifying to compete in the Junior Parade or Parade of Champions.
Excel Festival Awards:
The SEGL Council awards $100 to each skater who qualifies to compete at the Excel Series Final at the Excel National Festival. This award applies only to skaters who compete in the Qualifying levels (PLUS levels and juvenile through senior). Skaters competing in the Excel National Festival in the open levels (aspire 1 through preliminary) are not eligible for awards.
National Solo Dance Awards:
The SEGL Council awards $100 to each skater who qualifies to compete at the National Solo Dance Competition.
U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championship Awards:
The SEGL Council awards $100 to each adult skater who qualifies to compete at the U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships. This applies only to the Championship level events that require qualification from Adult Sectionals.
